The University of Benin student community has recently observed significant improvements in their various dormitory hostels, initiated by the new university administration.

Students residing in the renowned Hall 4 hostel have reported various upgrades in and around their dormitories. These improvements include the renovation of hall toilet seats, the installation and replacement of bathroom showers and light bulbs, and the refurbishment of room ceilings.

Similarly, students living in the Hall 3 hostel have also noticed changes, such as the installation and replacement of hall light bulbs and the replacement of some student bunks.

One of the most significant reforms introduced so far concerns the university’s back gate bus park, which serves as a vital transport hub for students and staff commuting to the main gate. The park has been earmarked for renovation under the new administration, necessitating the temporary relocation of buses and drivers operating from the site.

While speaking to ACJ Uniben correspondent, a driver shared his experience, stating, “The park is in a very poor condition for both drivers and students. We had to complain so that it could be restored for everyone’s safety and convenience.”

Mr.s P. I. Odiase, Director of Cabosa Global Concept Limited, who is overseeing the renovation project, emphasized the administration’s commitment to modernizing the park.

“The administration plans to modernize the park,” she said, explaining that the project was fast-tracked due to persistent complaints from drivers regarding the park’s poor condition.

Mrs Odiase also revealed that the project would include the installation of renewable solar energy lighting to illuminate the park at night, as well as repairs to the faulty water supply systems.

Expressing her optimism, she added, “This is a good development,” commending the proactive efforts of the new administration.
