The construction of two new buildings have commenced at the University of Benin as the institution has become a beneficiary of an infrastructure award in the South South of Nigeria by AbdulSamad Rabiu Initiative for Africa.
The Public Relations Unit of the University made this known to the general public in a communique released on Tuesday. The communique read, “In fulfilment of its promise, following the selection of the University of Benin as beneficiary of it’s infrastructure award in the South South, the AbdulSamad Rabiu Initiative for Africa, has commenced the construction of a four-floor  Students’ Affairs edifice and a three-floor  ICT Centre at the University of Benin.”
It stated further, “The Initiative is powered by the Industrialist  and Founder of BUA Group, Alhaji Adul Samad Rabiu.
“The Vice Chancellor, University of Benin, Professor Lilian Salami, who performed the groundbreaking said the projects are primarily students-centered and would make a lot of difference in the Institution’s infrastructure drive as well as enhance learning in this technologically driven age.
“The CEO of the ASR Africa, Dr Ubon Udoh,  reiterated that the University of Benin scored very high in it’s integrity test  and was chosen  for the give back to society initiative. 
“The two projects are going on simultaneously and are expected to be completed within 52 weeks as envisaged by the donors.”
Many are eager to see the finished products of these projects as they pray it is completed quickly, and for the good of the University of Benin populace.
