In a bid to give back to the society and support for his alma mater, Engr. Osaro John Igiede, who is a graduate of the prestigious University of Benin (UNIBEN), has shown a philanthropic act by donating a busload of academic books to the institution.

These books cut across several fields of study, which include Engineering, Law, Accounting, Philosophy, Sociology, Pharmacy, Medicine, and many more, just to mention a few.

Engr. Osaro, who came with his wife and other family members, was received officially by UNIBEN’s Vice Chancellor in the person of Professor Edoba Omoregie (SAN). The presentation took place on campus.

Engr. Osaro, who works as a Senior Systems Analyst in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, stated that the leadership of the new Vice-Chancellor was what inspired him to give this time- which makes it the fourth time he’s donating to UNIBEN.

Engr. Osaro stated that he’s been watching how Professor Omoregie has been leading the university community with passion and commitment, and this was really impressive. he felt he should support the great work the Vice Chancellor is doing.

The Vice-Chancellor said this donation was very timely. He stated that he was already in discussion with some of the school officials on how to revamp the library and make modern books accessible to foster physical and e-learning. “This is an answered prayer”, stated Professor Omoregie who could not hide his excitement. He noted that the donation would support his vision of raising the standards of the prestigious university.

Engr. Osaro, who went from being a student to a supporter, graduated from UNIBEN in 1991, department of Chemical Engineering is still showing support for the university that helped shape his path.
