The Nigeria police force, Kano State unit, has announced the arrest of a 20-year-old man who allegedly stabbed the security officer of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi ll at the Eid ground to death.
The young man attacked the security officer while he was protecting the 16th Emir of Kano on duty, Muhammadu Sanusi ll, following the Eid prayers on Sunday. The police report.
Another security officer was also reported injured and is currently receiving treatment at Murtala Muhammed Hospital in Kano city, the police also stated.
The Kano state police spokesman, SP Abdullahi Jigawa, confirmed the arrest and also stated that a palace official, ‘Shamakin Kano’ Wada Isyaku, had also been invited to the station for questioning, as part of the investigation.
The SP added that ” the police have invited the Kano Emirate’s Shamakin Kano, Alhaji Wada Isyaku, also for questioning.” Regarding the investigation of the incident.
Earlier on Friday, the police announced a ban on the traditional Sallah procession in Kano state as Emir Sanusi ll and Aminu Ado Bayero continue to claim the throne of Emir of Kano state.
