President Bola Tinubu called for an end to Israel’s aggression in Gaza in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Monday, warning that the conflict in Palestine has continued for too long, inflicting unimaginable suffering on the people. The Arab Islamic summit was convened to address pressing issues in the Middle East. The President expressed deep concern about the plight of the people of Gaza. This was conveyed in a statement signed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Monday.
He explained that the one-day summit was a follow-up to last year’s Riyadh summit, with various heads of state from the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and the League of Arab States in attendance. Reiterating Nigeria’s call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, he voiced his support for a two-state solution where Israelis and Palestinians can coexist in security and dignity. He added that this is the best possible way to ensure lasting peace between both nations.
