The University of Benin Declares Lecture-Free Days for the Freshers’ Orientation Program

By Igbinosa Rhoda

UNIBEN has declared Thursday, March 27, and Friday, March 28, 2025, as lecture-free days for all 100-level and 200-level direct entry students. This decision was approved by the Vice-Chancellor to ensure full participation in the 2024/2025 academic session’s orientation program.

The orientation exercise will take place at Akin Deko Auditorium at 8 AM daily (Thursday and Friday) and is designed to help new students familiarize themselves with the institution’s academic and social community. The memo, signed by Professor Clement Atewe Ighodaro, Dean of Students, calls on Provosts, Deans, and Directors to mobilize their students for the event.

The orientation program is a crucial part of the university’s academic culture, helping freshers understand their rights, responsibilities and available resources they can use in this great institution of learning. So that with this orientation, the students will feel free to ask questions from the university officials on academic expectations that will ease the students’ transition into campus life.
