As it has been my daily routine of going through our national dailies, something stroke my attention and reignited oscillating beats in my heart for everything called Nigeria. That is a press release by the Nigerian youths alternative council (NYAC).
Agitations, demonstrations, allegations, industrial actions, directive and counter directive, opinions and anger becomes the common language of over 150 million Nigerians who agree that the country is now a failed state.
While individuals and groups, political and non – political grab every given opportunity to register their displeasure and grievances, expressing how disappointed they feel with the present system, the youths are not sitting on the fence.
Anybody who can discern times and handwritings will know that since 1999, there has never been severe uprising by the youths as it is in this era.
In fact, these young ones in the recent #End SARS Protest decided to let loose their patience and openly without fear of victimization, tell not just the government but the entire world that they can no longer fold hands and watch their future taken for granted by the older generation.
When the Nigerian youths speak, their voice goes loud. Even the deaf can hear.
Believe me, what happened in October 2020 is indeed a Genesis of what the Nigerian youths intend for 2023.
Political gladiators may do what they know how to do best in making sure that the desire of the Nigerian youths will never see the light of the day; however, the ultimate law of the universe asserts that there is a definite time for everything. When the time comes, it easily becomes beautiful.
The weight of their voices can never be subsided. The Nigerian youths have lost fear of intimidation.
The youths are more organized, informed, dedicated, prepared and strong to take over leadership in Nigeria.
The political class must know this, understand this and accept it.
It is said that the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dream. These energetic ones believe that there is a Nigeria better than this. A Nigeria in which human and natural resources can be harnessed for satisfactory productivity. A Nigeria that is more socio – economically formidable. A Nigeria we would be proud to call our own. Hence, they should be allowed to own their future.
2023 is fast approaching, another fresh opportunity for us to determine set the course of our dear country for the next four years. Sincerely, the efforts of our elders in keeping the nation united remains highly recommended. Meanwhile, there must also be a willingness to give chance to the younger ones whom have been tested and proved.
Finally, for the teeming Nigerian youths who have been psychologically battered by the imbalance in every system of the country, “let no one look down on you because you are young, rather remain an example to all Nigerians, in integrity, patriotism and innovation.
