The Nigerian Bar Association pledges its support to peaceful protesters who will be participating in a nationwide protest set to commence today, 1st August 2024.
Mr. Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, the President of the NBA, has put measures in place to guarantee the safety of citizens throughout the duration of the protest. This is to ensure that the fundamental human rights of citizens are not compromised or violated during the protest.
Chairpersons of the NBA branches have also been instructed to set up ‘Situation Monitoring Committees’ across the country to oversee the activities and interactions between law enforcement agents and protesters.
Online monitoring forms have therefore been provided to make the exercise a seamless process. Legal support service teams have also been established to guarantee the effectiveness of the committees.
The NBA support has shown its dedication in protecting human right, promoting justice and ensure citizens are heard by the government.
They also huge everyone involve in the protest to be law abiding and peaceful as they voice out to the government.
