Three suspects have been paraded by the Kogi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for alleged criminal conspiracy and vandalism.

According to Esther Akinlade, the NSCDC Commandant, the crime was committed on the 7th and 20th of October in Ankara and Isanlu, both situated in the Yagba East Local Government Area of the state. The Commandant stated that the cooperation of security guards and officers of the Corps made the arrest possible. The suspects allegedly vandalised armoured cables within the premises of the Nigerian Television Authority in Ankpa.

According to Akinlade, one of the suspects, Agbo Christian, aged 33, was arrested by a security guard during the second operation on the 18th of October, while his accomplices escaped. Some exhibits were found with Agbo, who later admitted to the crime.

Subsequently, James Nifemi and Ibrahim Jamaru were arrested on the 20th of October 2024 by NSCDC officers who worked hand in hand with the community members of Ofin in Isanlu, Yagba East LGA. Armoured cables stolen from a community transformer were recovered from the suspects. The Commandant added that, upon interrogation, the suspects admitted their crimes and begged for leniency.

Akinlade commended the people for their joint efforts with the Command to reduce the rate of criminal activities in the state and encouraged them to keep up the good work.
