In a significant development on Monday, 23rd October 2023, the Electoral Commission of the Students’ Union Government at the University of Benin released the election schedule for the 2022/2023 session via a memorandum co-signed by Professor Clement Atewe Ighodaro, the Dean of Students and Chairman of the Commission, and the Electoral Secretary, Joel Isaac Idahor.
According to the calendar, the collection and nomination of forms by executive and parliamentary aspirants commenced on Monday, 23rd October and will continue until Thursday, 2nd November 2023. The screening of aspirants will occur between Saturday, 4th November and Tuesday, 7th November 2023 (both internal and external).
The display of cleared candidates is scheduled for 9th November, with manifesto presentations on Wednesday, 15th November. The general election is set to take place on 17th November 2023.
