It was another special convention opportunity for the students of the University of Benin in a colourful event organized by the Students Union Government in partnership with the Faculty of Peace Organization.
This year’s inter faculty debate which held on the 11th and 12th of November witnessed maximum participation by students from the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy, Social Science, Management Science, Engineering, Arts, Life Science and Basic Medical Sciences respectively.

Speaking at the event, the Vice Chancellor Prof (Mrs) Lilian Salami who was ably represented by former Dean of Students Affairs, Prof Igbovo charged the students to invest adequate time and resources in strengthening mental capacity.
According to the Vice Chancellor, Prof Salami, the University environment is a conducive platform created in order to enable students maximise the available learning facilities within the campus.
Meanwhile in his remark, Hon Barr. Omosede Igbinedion admonished the students to shun all social vices and embrace good morales. Hon Igbinedion who was represented by the Chief Executive Officer of Adorable Catering, described the students as the bedrock of national development while challenging the participants to be agent of change in the society.
The climax of the convention was the inter faculty debate session as students – representative from the various faculties interlocked horns in an intellectual battle.
At the final stage after a fierce contest, the Faculty of Arts outwitted the faculties of Pharmacy, Basic Medical Sciences and Management Sciences to emerge winner of 2021 Inter Faculty Debate.
In attendance were Comrade Osabo Kelly, President of the faculty of Peace, Ukinebo Dare, Sydney Talker, Sharon, Acting Counsellor Centre for Guidance and Counselling, Comrade Amadin Foster, SUG President among other dignitaries.
