Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) and the Non – Academic Staff Union of Education and Associated Institutions(NASU), have announced their plan for a one day protest slated for Tuesday, July 9,2024.
Mohammed Ibrahim, national president of SSANU, made this known in a circular to mobilize members of both unions to participate in the protest at their various branches.
A date for a nationwide strike will be fixed immediately after the one day protest. This was made known in a circular co-signed by the NASU general secretary, Peters
Adeyemi and the SSANU national president.
This decision to go on a one day protest was made the joint action committee (JAC) of both unions on July 4,2024 by both unions over four months withheld salary of members by the federal government amongst other grievances.
While expressing their disappointment in the government failure to resolve the pending issues with the unions, the joint action committee (JAC) of both unions also decided there will be a national protest at Abuja on July 18,2024 after which, they will meet to announce when the strike will commence.
