It is with deep sorrow that we report the passing of Kim Sae-ron, a beloved South Korean actress, who was found dead in her Seoul apartment on 16th February 2025. Authorities have yet to determine the cause of her death, and investigations remain ongoing.
Kim Sae-ron began her acting career at the age of nine, earning widespread recognition for her performances in acclaimed films such as The Man from Nowhere and the Netflix series Bloodhounds. In 2022, she faced legal consequences and public backlash following a drink-driving incident, which reportedly led to her retreat from the spotlight and struggles with mental health.
The National Police Agency has stated that no suicide note was found, and at this time, there is no indication of foul play.
Her passing has reignited discussions about the immense pressures faced by South Korean celebrities, particularly women in the entertainment industry. Throughout her career, Kim endured intense public scrutiny, with media narratives often shaping public perception in ways that added to her challenges.
