Mamudu Salisu, a 20-year-old man, allegedly murdered his father, Mr. Salisu Abubakar, with a machete in the Guaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State. The incident was confirmed in a statement made to Dutse journalists. On Monday, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Shi’isu Adam, reported that the tragedy occurred around 10 a.m. at Bakin Kasuwa Quarters, Sahara District.
According to Adam, the suspect inflicted multiple severe wounds on his father’s neck, chest, and shoulder using the machete. “The victim was hurriedly taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kudu for immediate medical attention, but he was confirmed dead by the doctor,” he said.
The Divisional Police Officer of Sara, along with his patrol team, quickly responded to the crime scene after receiving the report. The victim’s body was then transported to the hospital. The suspect was later apprehended, and the machete used in the crime was recovered.
Mr. Salisu Abubakar’s body was released to his relatives for a proper burial. The Jigawa Commissioner of Police, AT Abdullahi, stated that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse for a thorough investigation.
“The suspect will be arraigned before the court once the investigation is completed to face the consequences of his actions. The police command is committed to ensuring justice is served for this horrific crime,” the commissioner said.
Adam, the police spokesperson, clarified that the motive behind the murder is still unknown. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the cause of this tragic event. He urged anyone with valuable information to come forward to assist in expediting the investigation.
