Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo), the operator of Oil Mining Lease 118, alongside other co-ventures including Nigerian Agip Exploration, TotalEnergies Nigeria, and Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria (Deepwater) Limited under a Production Sharing Contract (PSC) with Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), has announced the opening of applications for the 2023 NNPC – SNEPCo National University Scholarship Programme.
The scholarship programme’s central objective is to foster academic excellence and elevate the skills of young Nigerian students. It offers annual grants to successful applicants, providing financial support from their second year of study through to the completion of their undergraduate degree programmes.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for this prestigious scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Hold Nigerian citizenship.
• Be currently in their second year of full-time study at a Nigerian university accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
• Maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 in a 5-grade system or its equivalent in other grading systems.
• Not be recipients of scholarships from any other entities within the Oil and Gas industry, either nationally or internationally.
Note: Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
Selection Criteria
Applicants should take note of the following selection criteria:
• Applications must be submitted exclusively through the scholarship portal and within the specified deadline.
• Only candidates who meet the eligibility criteria will be invited to undertake a monitored computer-based test.
• The top 10 candidates from each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory will be shortlisted for academic verification before being considered for scholarships.
• Any candidates found with falsified results will be disqualified.
• Only applicants who have successfully met the above criteria will be contacted for the scholarship award.
• All recipients must maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.5 per session, following a 5-grade system or its equivalent in other grading systems, to retain their scholarship.
How to Apply
To apply for this scholarship, follow these steps:
• Ensure you have a valid personal email account and phone number.
• Visit the application portal at https://candidate.scholastica.ng/schemes/2023NNPCSNEPCo.
• Provide personal and educational details as part of the application.
• Upload scanned copies of the required documents, including a recent passport-sized photograph, university or JAMB admission letter, Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) result, O’ Level result(s), and more.
• Fill and sign the Government Official declaration form, which can be downloaded from the provided link.
• Ensure that the names used in the applications match the names on all documentation.
• Review all uploaded documents for clarity and accuracy.
• When asked to upload a photo, use a passport photograph with a white background.
• Review the application information to avoid errors.
• Click “Apply Now” to submit your information.
• You will receive an email and an SMS confirming the successful submission of your application.
• Return to the application portal, enter your email and password to download your profile and have your Head of Department sign the document.
• Upload a scanned copy of the signed profile for verification.
Application Deadline
Applications should be submitted on or before November 10, 2023. Details of the examination will be communicated only to shortlisted candidates.
