Rotaract Club of the University of Benin Prepares for Handing Over Program as New Administration Takes Charge

By Osaro Matthew

The Rotaract Club of the University of Benin, a humanitarian organization founded on the basis of friendship through service, will be conducting its handing over program on July 16, 2023, at the Prof Salami Hall, Education Faculty. This is said to happen as the organization transitions into a new year, hence a new administration taking over.

Speaking to ACJ UNIBEN, the Club Service Director, Rtr Vivian Raphael, who is part of the new administration, said, “It is a new dawn for the Rotaract Club and there is more work to do. The Rotaract Club year begins in July and ends in June. The current administration, which will be passing the baton to the new administration on Sunday at 2 pm at Prof Salami Hall, Education Faculty, did a stupendous job, and the new administration would like to continue from where they left off.” When asked about the theme for the new year, she said, “The theme for the just concluded year is “Imagine Rotary,” which was also tagged the year of rejuvenation. Now the Club is transitioning from the year of rejuvenation into the “year of appreciation” with the theme “create hope in the world.”‘

When asked to mention some of the notable activities of the Club in Uniben, Rtr Vivian said, “Rotaract Club conducted a health project on June 27 at Hall 2 car park, Uniben. They gave free mosquito nets to students, conducted free HIV, hepatitis A and B tests, provided free eye and dental check-ups, and also offered free health consultations.”
