Since yesterday being 1st February, it has been quite a busy time for staff and students of University of Benin following the need to meet up with the task of reopening academic and non-academic activities.

The University of Benin has prohibited sales of bread and bottled water other than the school’s product.

Although efforts to reach the school’s production manager proved futile, the move was perceived as an intentional step by the management to promote the institution’s brand, hence generate more income.

In another development reported by campus Journalists, learning has commenced in some of the institution’s departments with students turning up for their scheduled lectures.

I.K, a 200-level student of the Department of Engineering, who spoke to our correspondent, Deborah O. today, expressed happiness over the full resumption of school activities while lamenting of time spent during the prolonged ASUU strike.

An investigation into the level of compliance to the Covid-19 protocol by campus Journalists showed that there is increase in obeying the stipulated guidelines as security officers at the main and back gate of the University were cited enforcing the use of face mask by the students.

It is expected that in days to come, the campus community must have become accustomed to the directives aimed at curbing the spread of coronavirus pandemic.

How long it will take, will be determined by how the management will go towards ensuring strict adherence to the Covid-19 protocol.
