A pregnant woman has tragically passed away after she was allegedly denied medical treatment at a hospital due to her and her husband’s inability to deposit a sum of 500,000 before working on her.
The heartbreaking incident was first shared on Instagram by her husband, Akinbobola Folajimi, and has gone viral on X formally known as Twitter.
In the video the pregnant woman in labour was seen inside a car with her husband, she was visibly weak as her husband desperately tried to keep her conscious.
He called her name repeatedly and begged her to stay strong for the children. “My goodness, Kemi, look at me. Stay strong, look at me. Think about your kids, please. You need to be very strong for me.”
Akinbobola Folajimi, announced the death of his wife, Kemi in a post that revealed that they initially sought help from a private hospital but were turned away because of their inability to deposit ₦5000,000. He added that they were later referred to a general hospital in Epe, unfortunately she didn’t survive the journey.
The husband made a video and wrote:
“Private Hospitals in Nigeria, the doctor told me to deposit 500k and I begged him to start doing whatever was needed to save my wife, we needed emergency support while I ran around in search of the money but they drove us out like they didn’t care.”
“They blindly rejected us and asked me to take her to the general hospital at Epe, even though the doctor knew that Epe from Lakwe was way too far for her condition. Before we could rush her to Epe she was gone”
“How? Such a wicked institution well only Jah sees and knows all things. This is just too much for me.”
As the video continues to go viral online, many concerned individuals have covered the comment section, expressing their sympathy.
