The University of Benin has announced the commencement of admission for qualified candidates into its postgraduate programs for the 2025/2026 academic session. The programs include Postgraduate Diploma, Master’s Degree, Master of Philosophy, and Doctor of Philosophy in the various schools, faculties, institutes, and centers of the University of Benin.

To be eligible for postgraduate studies at the University of Benin, candidates must have at least five credits in WASC, NECO, GCE, four credits at ordinary level, OND, NCE, IJMB, or advanced level passes. A pass degree holder is not qualified for admission into the postgraduate programs. A third-class degree holder must undergo a postgraduate diploma before being admitted into the Master’s programs. Also, a Master’s degree holder but with a weighted average score between 55-59% can only be considered for admission into the M.Phil program in the first instance. Candidates with Master’s degrees from other universities applying for PhD and who have not taken the university compulsory course must be required to offer and pass such courses with a minimum of 60%. Only candidates who have the NYSC discharge, exemption, or exclusion certificate can be admitted into the postgraduate programs.

In addition to that, candidates should print out and fill the referee form and submit it directly to the Secretary of the School of Postgraduate Studies before they can be processed. Students were advised to always check the website for those courses that require written examinations.

The University of Benin also released the various faculties or institutes in the university. These faculties have their various departments. The faculties include: Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Law, Institute of Education, Institute of Public Administration and Health Services Management, Faculty of Life Sciences, Faculty of Management Sciences, Faculty of Physical Sciences, Faculty of Social Science, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Vocational and Teaching Education, College of Medicine Science (School of Medicine), School of Basic Medical Science, School of Dentistry, and Institute of Child Health.

Also, candidates are to apply by purchasing application forms online with a valid Verve or Master ATM bank card with the sum of 22,000 Naira. The university urges candidates to fill the form correctly before submitting, as any form that is not properly filled will not be collected.

Furthermore, the management also stated that only candidates that will be offered admission are required to pay a non-refundable acceptance fee of 60,000 Naira. Candidates are expected to pay the acceptance fee before they can be cleared.
