The son of the Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Prince Eniola Oyeyode, has been detained by the Osun State Police Command regarding the case of the killing of the US-based lecturer and Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Late Prof. Richard Idowu.

It was reported that the lecturer was shot in the leg as he left the venue after a brief meeting that was called by the Osun Prince. An eyewitness also confirmed that the gun was fired when the Prince instructed a local hunter to release shots, which the hunter did into the ground instead of the sky.

The spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, confirms the incident and the subsequent arrest of Prince Eniola Oyeyode.

“The incident occurred on 27/1/2024 at about 9:48 pm after the 50th coronation anniversary of the Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Oyeyode Oyesosin, where one Prince Eniola Oyeyode of Ejigbo instructed one of his civilian guards named Hammed Abdul Jelili to fire his double-barrelled gun into the air to confirm if the gun was in good condition or not.

But instead, he allegedly shot directly at the victim, and he was rushed to a hospital but confirmed dead by the doctor. Meanwhile, Prince Eniola Oyeyode, who gave the order to his civilian guard to fire the gun, has been arrested and detained,” Yemisi said.
