Plateau School Building Collapse: State Governor Declares Three Days of Mourning for Victims.

On 12th July 2024, a tragic incident hit Saint Academy in Jos, Plateau State, when the school building collapsed on students and staff, leaving no fewer than 22 people dead and about 132 suffering various degrees of injuries. In response to this unfortunate incident, the state governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has declared three days of mourning in honour of the victims.

The governor also ordered that all flags within the state be flown at half-mast during the course of the three-day mourning period, which will commence on 13th July and end on 15th July.

This information was contained in a statement signed by the state commissioner for information, Musa Ashoms, on Saturday, 13th July 2024. The governor, on his visit to the scene of the incident, sympathised with the families of the victims while also urging citizens to adhere strictly to building codes and ethics to forestall such tragic occurrences.
