Wednesday, 30th of September 2020 just as other days in the month can be called ‘Wetnesday‘ as the windows of heavens were opened for massive downpour in every part of Benin City, University of Benin not excluded from the soft, but heavy showers.
This however could not stop the Vice Chancellor of the prestigious University of Benin, Prof. Salami L.I who continues her infrastructural upgrade of the school environment with an inspection visit to the popular ‘Basement‘ on the main (Ugbowo) Campus of the University.
Basement is a popular location in the school (originally meant for lectures), but students’ Christian fellowship have seemingly turned to worships center and have their materials kept.
The Union of Campus Journalists reporter on ground, reported that the materials and property of the fellowships were moved out of their illegal locations in accordance to the directives of the VC.
Recall that, the management had earlier informed the illegal occupants to move their belongings from the center so as to aid the ongoing renovations around the school environment.
The VC on her inspection visit to the site, was accompanied by various arms of the school administration and members of the media.
Our reporter on ground, asking the VC question on resumption date (to put to rest rumors flying around with a purported resumption date), she responded aptly by saying: “You people have been posing rumor about, so tell me what you have been hearing?”
In response to her question, our reporter said, “Yes, there have been rumors flying around, but the school P.R.O. (Dr. Ehanire) has quashed the rumor and imployed all students to debunk such rumors”
The all smiling VC with sense of humor, replied by saying: “You will be duly notified by the management of any development” she added, leaving with her entourage.
