Ten suspected kidnappers have been apprehended by detectives in Akure, Ondo State. During the operation, officers recovered ransom payments taken from victims and seized several motorcycles used in the commission of the crimes.
Police spokesperson Jimoh Abayomi stated that the suspects were captured during a joint mission involving the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Section and Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel, who were dispatched from police headquarters to Ondo State as operational support.
According to Abayomi, officers were swiftly deployed to areas along Ondo Road following credible intelligence. Upon their arrest, a portion of the recovered cash was found to include burnt currency notes.
The suspects have reportedly provided useful confessions highlighting their involvement in the kidnapping ring. Key evidence retrieved during the raid is currently under review for detailed forensic enquiry and further legal action.
Abayomi reassured the residents of Ondo State of the command’s unwavering commitment to purging the state of kidnapping and other violent crimes.
