The incumbent Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been declared the winner of the 16 November Ondo State Governorship election, securing victories in all 18 local government areas in a landslide victory.
Governor Aiyedatiwa garnered a total of 366,781 votes to defeat his closest rival, Agboola Ajayi of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who secured 117,845 votes to place second. He was declared the winner of the election after the collation of results at the collation centre in Akure by the INEC Returning Officer, Professor Akinwumi Olayemi Durotimi, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja.
Governor Aiyedatiwa assumed office in December 2023 following the death of his principal, Rotimi Akeredolu, after a long battle with illness. This victory marks the successful conclusion of a re-election bid for the incumbent governor.
