Edo State governor, Sen Monday Okpebholo has issued an order to the Commissioner of Police in the state to put an end to cult clashes in the state within 48 hours.
This is coming 48 hours after the governor was sworn in as a governor of the state. He issued the ultimatum to the police on Thursday, November 14,2024.
Okpebholo made the order public in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, on his official X handle. He also issued a ban on the activities of the Drivers Welfare Association, Network Empowerment.
The governor emphasized that he will ensure the security of the lives and properties of the people of Edo State at all costs, as he promised during his campaigns.
“Edo must be safe. That was one of my key priorities during the campaigns, and I plan to ensure that we restore it at all costs. We will not fold our arms and allow them to create unnecessary tension,” the statement read.
The people of Edo State will be hoping to see the police swing into action and ensure that cult clashes in the state come to an end.
