The journey to the 2022 General Elections of the National Union of Campus Journalists (NUCJ), Nigeria has officially begun as the Electoral Committee announces a lift of ban on Electoral activities within the union.

The announcement was made by the Electoral Committee’s General Secretary Alofe Faith Opeyemi in an official statement approved by the Committee Chairman Sherifdeen Olamilekan.

The statement read;

“Following the series of meetings had by the Electoral Committee after the nomination and ratification of the body’s commission by the National Council, this is then to inform all members of the NUCJ that the ban on electoral activities has now been lifted TODAY and so interested candidates can now come out and show their interest in the different executive positions.

“Details of the next processes will be provided to you as scheduled in our provided plan/guidelines.

“We, however, hope for your utmost interest, contribution and participation.”

NUCJ Nigeria Electoral Committee Commences Sales Of Forms For The Union’s 2022 General Elections.

Following the lift of ban on Electoral activities in the union by the Electoral committee, NUCJ, Nigeria, the sales of forms have officially commenced.

In an official release by the committee’s secretary Faith Alofe, the sales of forms for each office of the NUCJ National Secretariat began on Saturday, 21st May, 2022 and will be open until Saturday, 4th of June, 2022, giving a timeframe of two weeks for interested individuals to purchase the forms for declaration of interest.

Breakdown of the prices of form for each position are as follows:

• President – N9,000
• Vice President – N7,000
• Secretary General – N5,000
• Financial Secretary – N5,000
• Publicity Secretary – N5,000
• Deputy Publicity Secretary – N5,000
• Zonal Secretaries – N4,000

In a time table made available by the committee chairman Sherifdeen Olamilekan, it was discovered that the entire processes, from sales of forms to the main elections are expected take a time period of one month.

A member of the Electoral Committee, Odabi Collins revealed that some individuals have started canvassing for support and from various chapters of the NUCJ.
