Arise o Africa! for today, a giant is born to us.
Arise and stand in attention for a giant with manpower is born to us in respect to the souls who have filled your soil in the likes of Lt. Chief Obafemi Jeremiah Oyeniyi Awolowo (who played a key role in Nigeria’s independence, lived from 1909-1987), Herbert Macaulay(father of Nigeria who lived from 1891-1946), Anthony Enahoro(pioneer of Nigeria’s independent), Shehu Shagari(first Democratically elected president of Nigeria); Flora Shaw, Chief Emeka Anyaoku (Commonwealth secretary-general), Joseph Garba(Nigeria former permanent representative to the UN, was elected in 1989 to be president of the UN General Assembly for one year) and many more on the usually unending list.

A giant with beauties- Zuma rock, Niger; Wikki warm Spring, Bauchi; Yankari National Park; Awhum (ohum) cave, Enugu(the cave which houses a crucifix of Jesus Christ and a grotto of Joseph and Mary, where monks and pilgrims perform their spiritual exercise, the Obudu Holy mountain, Cross River State(described by some, as one of the most beautiful places on earth); Idanre hill, Ondo(it’s spectacular valleys bring people to say, Africa is beautiful). Agbokim waterfall, Etung (which houses a seven-part waterfall that produces a beautiful blend of rainbow colors in the rainy season); Aso Rock, Abuja(which means ‘victorious rock’), Riyom rock, Plateau(the giant boulders delicately placed over one another keeps one awe; Ado-Awaye suspended lake, Oyo(is one of the only two suspended lakes in the world); Ogbunike Cave, Anambra(is on tentative list UNESCO World Heritage Site); Farin Ruwa waterfalls(its whitish appearance keep one at awe); and many more which proclaims the beauty of Africa.

A giant filled with love as she embraces over 250 ethnic groups of different Languages, Arts, Music, Dance, religions, and cultures. The idea of having these ethnic groups knotted from 1960 up till this moment, is beautiful. Similarly, the love is not within her people alone but with her neighbors. When war happened in Angola in 1975, she gave full support to the popular movement for the liberation of Angola. Also, she has played a critical role in the creation of ECOWAS to ensure great relationships among the countries of West Africa.

A giant with a power bank supplying power(Petroleum, Gold, Coal, Zinc, Iron Ore, Natural gas, Bitumen, Limestone, Niobium, Tin, Uranium, etc) to other countries far and wide. A giant who is most known for her vast hydrocarbon wealth. She supplies power to Europe and Asia which are the main trade partners for crude oil exports.

This giant is endowed and built with capacity. Her capacity is surely on an unending list. She is considered to be an emerging market by the World Bank.

More strength to record more, giant of Africa.

Happy Independence day O giant of Africa. Nigeria @ 62.

God bless Nigeria!
