The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) of Nigeria has taken a stand against filmmakers who are producing, promoting, and distributing unlawful content, including same-sex themed content prohibited by law.

This fight was propelled by various reports of filmmakers engaging in illicit activities during content production and posting them on social media. The NFVCB has done all it can to ensure filmmakers promote good and appropriate content for the general public, yet some stubborn filmmakers continue to violate the law and promote sexually explicit content on social media.

The board is currently working hand in hand with various agencies to track down filmmakers and production companies who are still indulging in this act, and they will stop at nothing until the offenders face the full force of the law. They further emphasise that they have tried to engage with various filmmakers and production companies on the benefits of promoting healthy and safer content.

The board continues to remind stakeholders, such as conventional and digital platform owners, that it is illegal to distribute any film or video content, including skits and music videos, on any platform without proper  classification from the National Film and Video Censors Board.
