The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has confirmed a delay in the disbursement of this month’s student upkeep allowance, attributing the setback to ongoing technical updates on its payment portal.
In an official notice, the agency explained that the delay is a result of a backend system upgrade aimed at improving the accuracy of student payment records. Due to this update, many students who had previously received multiple months of upkeep payments noticed that their payment history had been altered, now reflecting only one month of payment on their portals.
“This discrepancy is due to an ongoing backend update aimed at syncing student payment records accurately,” NELFUND clarified. “We are working to ensure that each student’s portal reflects the correct start date and complete payment history.”
The organization stressed that the upgrade is essential for ensuring transparency and accountability in the disbursement process. Although no specific timeline was provided for resolving the issue, students were urged to remain calm and patient as the technical team continues its work.
“All students are advised to remain calm and patient while this is being resolved,” the statement read, encouraging beneficiaries to rely solely on official NELFUND communication channels for further information.
