Comr. Scott Uyiosasere Ogunseri, President of the Niger Delta Students Government (NIDSUG), has issued an official statement to address a misleading Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) scholarship announcement circulating on social media. He has urged students, especially those from the Niger Delta region, to disregard the false information.
The statement, released on September 28, 2023, emphasized that the NIDSUG President unequivocally denounced the fraudulent scholarship update and associated links circulating on social media, categorizing them as deceptive and harmful. He called upon the public and Niger Delta students to dismiss these misleading claims.
In the communication, Comr. Scott Uyiosasere Ogunseri affirmed that he is in direct contact with the Director of Education at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and has been informed that while the NDDC indeed has a scholarship program, it has not yet commenced.
The statement read as follows: “I am compelled to address you at this time to clarify that the scholarship update supposedly originating from NDDC, which is currently circulating on various media platforms, is unequivocally false. It is a deceptive ploy orchestrated by troublemakers and adversaries of Niger Delta students.”
“As a result, I hereby advise you to disregard and refrain from following any links in pursuit of an NDDC Scholarship program.”
“Please take note that I maintain open communication with the Director of Education at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), who has reliably informed me that the NDDC has a Scholarship program in the pipeline, but it has not been initiated yet. However, once the Scholarship program becomes active, the National leadership of NIDSUG, under the capable leadership of Comrade Scott Uyiosasere Ogunseri, will promptly notify all Niger Delta students…”
Furthermore, the President’s statement assured that when the NDDC scholarship application process begins, it will be transparent, fair, and hassle-free, ensuring that only deserving students benefit from the program.
Comr. Scott also urged the NDDC management to issue an official memo to debunk the ongoing misinformation and links being disseminated to the public to prevent students from falling victim to scams.
In a final note, the NIDSUG President appealed to the NDDC management to increase the number of scholarship beneficiaries and allocate slots to each state within the Niger Delta region, thereby enabling more Niger Delta students to benefit from this initiative.
