The Convention Planning Committee of the National Association of University Students (NAUS), Edo State Axis, has released the list of cleared aspirants for the 2024 NAUS Edo CMC Elections just hours before voting commenced. The list, which was meant to be published on 30th October 2024, 24 hours before the election, was delayed and only released this morning at 8:08 AM, causing a stir among stakeholders and student leaders.

The last-minute release of the list has sparked concerns over the readiness and fairness of the election process. Some stakeholders have criticised the delay, arguing that it may have impacted candidates’ ability to prepare adequately or address disqualifications.

The Chairman of the Convention Planning Committee, Comr. Ikhinmwin Kenneth Osawaru, in a statement aimed at calming the situation, said, “Those uncleared can still make themselves available for an appeal before the Convention time. The complete report will be made available to the appeal committee.”

As voting commences today, the election proceeds under intense scrutiny. The appeal process remains an available avenue for those disqualified, but concerns linger about the limited time left for aspirants to make their cases.

ACJ UNIBEN is monitoring the situation closely and will provide further updates as developments unfold.
