The Edo State Leadership of the National Association of University Students, (NAUS) has extended its congratulations to Senator Monday Okpebholo and Hon. Dennis Idahosa following their victory in the recently concluded Edo State governorship election.

In a statement signed by Comrade Osahon Destiny Eseosa, Chairman of the Edo State Campus Monitoring Committee (CMC), NAUS expressed optimism for the future of the state’s educational sector under the leadership of Senator Okpebholo and his deputy. “Your triumph at the polls is a clear testament to the confidence the people of Edo State have in your leadership and vision for the future,” the statement read.

Comrade Osahon urged the new administration to prioritise education, with a particular focus on state-owned universities, including Ambrose Alli University (AAU), which has been a major concern for students. “…we are optimistic that your administration will place a premium on education, particularly focusing on the urgent needs of our state-owned institutions, with Ambrose Alli University (AAU) as a key concern,” he noted.

NAUS Edo CMC highlighted key areas in the educational sector where they anticipated reforms. These include infrastructural development, the provision of adequate housing for students, and a reduction in tuition fees to ease the financial burden on the student population. The association stressed that these reforms are critical to the growth and development of the state’s youth. “Your administration’s dedication to these critical areas will undoubtedly contribute to the future prosperity of Edo State and its young population,” the message stated.

Comrade Eseosa conclusively wished the incoming administration success as they prepare to assume leadership, expressing hope that their tenure will mark the beginning of transformative changes in the state’s educational system.
