Dr Mary Idele, the National Women’s Leader of the All Progressives Congress, has expressed deep concern regarding issues of gender-based violence, which have become rampant in the country.
Following the appointment of Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim as Minister of Women’s Affairs, she has displayed unwavering support for the minister’s ability to carry out her duties diligently. This support stems from a place of trust and confidence in the minister to offer potential solutions to the problems women are currently facing in society.
After a heartfelt congratulatory message, Dr Mary encouraged all stakeholders to play their roles by assisting the minister in every way they can. This, in turn, would enable her to prioritise the wellbeing of women by addressing the numerous challenges they face across the country. It would also ensure the inclusion of women in prominent sectors.
Dr Mary also encouraged the minister to organise programmes and introduce initiatives that would provide women with greater access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
