In a bold and prompt step to address the issues of cultism, cybercrime, and drug abuse among Edo youths and students, particularly in the University of Benin, the National Association of Nigerian Students Joint Campus Committee (NANS JCC), Edo Axis, is set to host a revolutionary Summit titled, “One-Day Student Summit and Skill up.”
This impactful program is scheduled to hold on July 11, 2025, at the Festus Iyayi Hall, University of Benin, at 10:00 A.m. It will bring together students, security experts, top business minds, and institutional leaders in an interesting and engaging public talk that centers around the theme, “ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND EMPLOYABILITY AS A MAJOR TOOL IN COMBATING CULTISM, CYBER CRIME, AND DRUG ABUSE.”
This event, according to the organisers is not only about enlightening students on the dangers and consequences of the stated social vices, above, but also to equip them with practical employability and entrepreneurial skills.
The intriguing part about this summit is that it comes with a lot of advantages that aren’t usually available. The event promises the availability of Free CAC registration for 10 student-owned businesses, an empowerment fund for student entrepreneurs, security sensitisation sessions by representatives from the Nigerian Police Force(NPF), Department of State Services (DSS), and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC). Also, there will be employability talks from industry leaders, including the general manager of 7Up Bottling Company and lastly, panel discussions featuring Uniben Alumni, successful startup founders, and key campus stakeholders.
The organisers expect the event to draw a large attendance of students, campus leaders, and invited guests from across Edo state and beyond.
Dignitaries like the Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Faculty representatives, and business mentors are expected to be in attendance, to show institutional support, contribution and dedication to youth development.
This summit, due to the daily rise of unemployment and social vices, is intended to inspire a new generation of students who are ready to choose creativity over crime, and purpose over peer pressure.
