The recently crowned Miss Universe Africa and Oceania, Chidinma Adetshina, has announced her plans to relocate to Nigeria. The beauty queen achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Miss Universe runner-up from Nigeria.
The 23-year-old beauty queen gained popularity among Nigerian and South African netizens during the Miss South Africa competition held in August. Chidinma Adetshina withdrew from the South Africa competition following severe opposition from South African citizens, who questioned her nationality due to her Nigerian name.
Adetshina stated that she needed to protect her family after allegations emerged that her mother had stolen the identity of a South African woman. Following her withdrawal from the South Africa competition, the beauty queen was invited to participate in Miss Universe Nigeria, which she went on to win.
Chidinma Adetshina emphasised that she holds no animosity towards South Africa, a place she described as her home, given that her mother is South African with Mozambican roots. She revealed that her identity issues in South Africa are being handled through legal channels. The beauty queen also shared her hopes of completing her law degree.
