The National Association of Biochemistry Students (NABS), University of Benin, on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, commenced its HOD’s cup games with opening match featuring the defending champions, 400-level class, also known as Methionines, versus the 200-level class, also known as the Tyrosines.

In what happened to be a highly captivating game, fans and students of the Department of Biochemistry stormed the Synthetic Field at UNIBEN Sports Complex to cheer their favourite teams.

The Tyrosines did their best to stay sane in the game but were met with a sharp defeat by the Methionines who served them 5 goals to 1, with Jacob securing 2 goals. Osasogie, Alex and Chuks of the Methionines, also scored one penalty each. The Tyrosines were able to net one neat goal through Success.

There was excitement in the atmosphere as the Valines, the 300-level class and top rival of the Methionines, made their way to the field after the first opening match to play with the Cyanines of the 100-level class.

The 1-hour game between the Valines and Cyanines, seemed like a 20-mins match as the Valines brutally trashed the Cyanines, 3 goals to none in each half to end the game in a clean sheet of 6-0.

The Valines displayed their prowess effortlessly as they played around the field, schooling the Cyanines on their pathway to flawless victory, with Precious scoring a hat-trick, and Esene, Bobby, and Omoba delivering one goal each.

ACJ UNIBEN leanred that the NABS Director of Sports, Salami Oshomah, plans to hold other games such as Scrabble, Whot, Chess, Table Tennis, Athletics, and Ludo in the ongoing Biochemistry Department HOD’s cup.
