The eagerly anticipated Management Sciences faculty election, initially slated for November 29, 2023, at 9 pm, experienced a setback as the stipulated commencement time was not observed.
Despite the prompt presence of voters at 8 am, eager to exercise their political rights, and a surprisingly massive turnout that led to congestion at the designated venue, proceedings faced an unforeseen deferment. Regrettably, the election encountered delays, prompting uncertainties about its eventual occurrence.
Frustration enveloped students who had specifically arrived for voting, and those with scheduled classes departed for their respective academic obligations.
Around 11 am, patiently waiting students urged those leaving to return amid rumors of the election commencing. However, this proved false, as the presiding officers of the polling stations were notably absent.
By 1 pm, a considerable number of electorates had left the venue. With the election slated to conclude by 2 pm, and no sign of the presiding officers at 1 pm, news broke that the election had been rescheduled for Thursday, November 30, 2023.
Displeased with the situation, a significant portion of the electorates has decided against participating further, primarily due to a clash with the Accounting student’s election scheduled for the same time as the Management Science Association.
While we remain hopeful that this trend will not persist, the looming question of what will transpire on Thursday leaves an air of uncertainty.
