Ronaldo stans aren’t gonna like this one—Messi’s name is once again being echoed in the football halls of fame! He has now become the player with the highest goal contribution in Inter Miami CF’s history since the club’s inception.
In a 1-1 draw against Toronto FC on April 6th, 2025, Messi scored the crucial equalizer, marking his 44th goal contribution in just 29 regular-season matches. This puts him well above the previous record set by Gonzalo Higuaín, who had an impressive 43 goal contribution over 67 appearances.
Messi’s record-breaking goal came in first-half stoppage time. Positioned at the top of the 18-yard box, he executed a precise left-footed volley—in other words, an exceptional R2 finish—that found the back of the net and helped even the odds.
Since joining Inter Miami from Paris Saint-Germain in 2023, Messi has been nothing short of extraordinary. He currently averages 24 goals and 20 assists in regular-season play.
Despite Messi’s individual brilliance, Inter Miami settled for a draw in the match against Toronto FC. The team now holds a record of 4-0-2, placing them one point behind Eastern Conference leaders Columbus Crew, with a game in hand.
Messi’s influence extends beyond the pitch. His presence has significantly boosted Inter Miami’s profile, leading to increased attendance and merchandise sales. The club’s revenues have reportedly tripled since his arrival, and the franchise’s valuation has more than doubled—reflecting the substantial impact of the Argentine superstar.
With this, Messi has proven that he will continue to be an essential player in Inter Miami’s aspirations for both domestic and international success.
