Lene Kehinde Janet has publicly apologised for making defamatory statements against Stanley Prince Dibiah, popularly known as UNIBEN Prince.
On 6 February 2025, Janet posted on her WhatsApp status, accusing Prince Dibiah of being a rapist and a “fucking psychopath.” This accusation was followed by a formal complaint alleging attempted rape and physical assault.
Following the circulation of these claims, the Student Union Government (SUG) launched an investigation. After a thorough review, the SUG concluded that there was no evidence to support the allegations of attempted rape. In response, Prince Dibiah filed a petition demanding a public apology from Janet for calling him a rapist and requested that disciplinary action be taken against her.
On 13 February 2025, Janet issued a formal letter of apology, expressing deep regret for her words. She admitted that she had spoken out of strong emotions without substantial evidence to support her claims. Acknowledging that her remarks were defamatory, she formally withdrew them.
In her statement, Janet apologised for the harm her words may have caused and expressed remorse for using derogatory language. She recognised the seriousness of her actions and took responsibility for the impact of her statements.
