The Kebbi state government has started its arrangements for a joint wedding comprising 300 couples set for the 27th of February 2025.

Alhaji Suleiman Argungu, the chairman of the organizing committee, publicized this plan on Sunday, 9th of February 2025. He stated that the occasion is being coordinated in alliance with the Nafisa Nasir Charity Development Foundation Incorporated into the arrangement, different committees have been set up to take care of necessary medical check-ups, including HIV/AIDS tests, genotype, pregnancy tests, and compatibility tests in accordance with legal marriage.

The chairman of the organizing committee highlighted that the joint nuptial will execute a promise made by ” His Excellency Nasir Idris,” revalidating the government’s commitment to continually support less privileged people in getting married. From 21 local government areas, the state government will allocate one hundred and eighty thousand for the dowry of each bride, summing it to fifty-four million for the three hundred beneficiaries

Argungu further stated that apart from the dowry, which the government will pay, the three hundred couples will also get basic household items such as furniture and food supplies to create a steady family life.
