JAMB announced through a statement released by its spokesman, Mr. Fabian Benjamin, on July 2, 2023, alleging that Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma, a candidate in the just-concluded 2023 UTME, manually manipulated her result by inflating the score from 249 to 362 and used the result to deceive the public to fraudulently obtain scholarships and other recognitions.
In the heat of the allegations and threat by the board (JAMB) to prosecute Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma over result manipulation, IVM Innoson Group fires back at JAMB through Mr. Cornel Osigwe, Head of Corporate Communications, Innoson Group, via his Twitter handle, implying that the girl he met does not have the brain to manipulate her result.
Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma is seen in a viral video clip debunking the claim by JAMB that she manipulated her result, as she is not capable of doing that. According to Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma in the viral video clip while holding a copy of the said result printout, “My name is Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma. I am the owner of this result. I went to the JAMB portal to print this result, and this is what they gave me. This is the result here. This is my aggregate, 362. This is exactly how I printed it. I downloaded it from that site.”
Moving forward, she said in the same video clip, “So they are now saying I forged my result, which is what I don’t know, and I am traumatized that they accused me of forging my own result because I am not capable of this, forging results. This is the evidence…”
This accusation leveled against Miss Mmesoma has caused unrest on the social media. Many, in defense of Miss Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma, imply that if the results may have changed or the score she got is different from what she printed, it may have been due to a system or server glitch from the end of JAMB, and that proper investigations should be carried out.
