Following an alarming and disturbing video of the Edo tactical team, who were responsible for running over a citizen at Ekpoma, the acting IGP, Olukayode Egbetokun, has ordered the disbandment of the Edo squad.

The IGP stated that the measure was taken to regularize and standardize police operations in the area and to rebuild public confidence in the Police Force in a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

The concerned operatives are also currently dealing with administrative and disciplinary actions. The IGP’s determination to hold personnel responsible for their acts, which will never be accepted in the Nigeria Police Force, is demonstrated by this decision, he added.

A man was taken to the hospital in Edo after being struck by a police car. The Inspector General of Police reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the strictest moral and professional standards within the police.
