The Governor of Ebonyi state, Francis Nwifuru, has approved a 10,000 Naira salary increment for the civil servants in the state. The Southeast Governor has also ordered the recruitment of civil servants in the state’s civil service. The development has spurred jubilation amidst civil servants in the state.
Jude Okpor, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Orientation, announced the development after the state executive council meeting. He said the council, led by Governor Francis Nwifuru, ordered that 10,000 Naira be added to every worker’s salary to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal. He added that the Governor also ordered the recruitment of 1,454 civil servants into the scheme to fill vacancies created over the years.
Governor Francis Nwifuru has also mandated the SSG, Professor Grace Umezuruike, to look into the finances of the state university (EBSU) to determine what comes in and goes out of the university, to help determine the upward review of subventions to the university.
