The former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, has publicly disproved rumours of his death. Obasanjo blamed social media for the circulation of such an unsettling rumour.
The former president and one-time military Head of State of Nigeria declared that he is still alive. He wondered why people would wish him dead. Obasanjo stated that after seeing the rumour on social media, he quickly called his family to inform them that he is alive.
Olusegun Obasanjo debunked the rumour of his death on Tuesday during the commissioning of the Old Garage/Oke Fia-Lameko dual carriageway in Osogbo, Osun State, by Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Obasanjo stated that those who harbour such thoughts will not escape tragedy themselves. He further remarked that the disturbing rumour shows the extent to which some people would misuse technology. The former president found this unacceptable.
Obasanjo also commended Osun State’s Governor, Ademola Adeleke, for his achievements in the state. Obasanjo believes that the people of Osun State will support Governor Adeleke and re-elect him for a second term.
