A 25-year-old polytechnic student in Kwara State, Olaitan Abdulwahab Damilare, and three others have been sentenced for internet fraud.
They were convicted by the Kwara State High Court after being arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ilorin Zonal Directorate, on July 14, 2025.
Olaitan, a final-year Quantity Surveying student, posed as a white woman named “Fav” to deceive a man into sending him $2,100 worth of gift cards. He was sentenced to six months in prison and ordered to forfeit $2,000, an iPhone XR, and a Samsung phone.
Maruf Quadri Kolawole impersonated someone named Frank Matt on Facebook and scammed $950. He also got six months and forfeited his iPhone 13 Pro Max and the money.
Habeeb Abiodun Jimoh was jailed for six months and forfeited his iPhone 14 Pro Max, HP laptop, and $365.
Mubarak Moruf was sentenced to one year or a N400,000 fine. His iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 7, and $300 were also forfeited.
All four pleaded guilty and were sentenced accordingly.
