The Federal University of Gusua’s information officer, Umar Usman, confirmed the development on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, stating that the management of the institution made the decision after scrutinizing and verifying the reports and recommendations forwarded to it by the students’ discipline committee.

Federal University of Gusau, which was established on February 18, 2013, conducted its 82nd meeting, where it considered the reports of the committee. The students’ disciplinary committee recommended the expulsion of seven students and the rustication of six others for various misconducts.

After it was proven by the management that the students were contravening the laws and regulations governing the conduct of students in the institution, the Academic Secretary of the University, Mallam Bello, conveyed the expulsion and rustication to the affected students.

The students were punished for various offenses ranging from stealing, assault, burglary, circulation of unverified information via social media, and examination malpractices. The punishment meted out to the students by the management is a stern warning to students who disobey the regulations that guide their conduct in the institution and to foster discipline
