The Faculty of Law, University of Benin, in the early hours of Friday, 13th January, 2023, elected a new Faculty Dean.
The erstwhile Dean, in the person of Prof. Mrs. Violet Aigbokhaevbo became famous after she came into power in 2021 as the first elected Female Dean of the faculty. She has gone on since then to do excellently well as attested by colleagues and students of the Prestigious Faculty.

Some of her laudable achievements include; renovation of the faculty, improving the aesthetics, a brand new E- library, student’s lounge, a new green park, student’s car park, a very incredible inaugural lecture, scholarships for law school candidates and so many more too numerous to mention.
During her tenure, the faculty academically excelled, producing a first class student from the faculty, and six first class graduates from the Nigerian Law School.
She is also famous for organizing a top notch inaugural lecture as the first and only female dean in the whole of the University. She is a grounded Environmental law professor with many credits to her name academically.
She won her election credibly in 2021 and has since then delivered powerfully making incredible impacts very noticeable in the Faculty. She has been known for ensuring discipline among students and rewarding hard work.
She however lost her reelection bid on Friday 12th January 2023, losing to a very respected senior professor in the Faculty.
The professor, I. O. Omoruyi is a renowned International Law lecturer particularly on Conflict of Laws and Humanitarian Law. He has also served in the capacity of the DVC to the former Vice Chancellor (Prof FFO oruwese) of the University of Benin.

The election was said to be free and fair and the lecturers seem to have accepted it in good faith.
