Ikeja Electric Plc and the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission have been restrained by the Federal High Court in Lagos from implementing the electricity tariff increase on Band A customers.

The tariff increase comprised those published on 4th April and the May bill published for Rida National Plastics Limited on 6th May.

The court, headed by Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, made an interim injunction after hearing the ex parte application filed by Rida National Plastics Limited’s lawyers.

Justice Aneke has temporarily restrained Ikeja Electric Plc and NERC from imposing the payment of a N20 million bill on Rida National Plastics Limited, which is the balance from the purported electricity bill dated 4th May 2024, calculated based on the April 2024 Supplementary Order on Tariff Increase on Band A customers.

The interim injunction also restrained Ikeja Electric Plc and NERC from intimidating or disconnecting Rida National Plastics’ electricity supply for non-compliance with the purported tariff.
