The Ekosodin Residents and Students Protest Committee (ERSPC) has announced a major demonstration scheduled for August 4th, 2023, to address the distressing power outage situation caused by the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC). For over a month, the community has been grappling with the adverse effects of the outage, impacting their daily lives and academic pursuits.
The protest aims to draw attention to their plight and demand immediate solutions from the BEDC. The lack of electricity has hindered basic household functions, access to essential services, and reliable internet connectivity for educational purposes. Students have faced challenges in studying and completing coursework effectively.
The ERSPC’s peaceful advocacy seeks accountability and swift action from the BEDC. By targeting the company’s office, the community emphasizes their demand for a resolution to the power outage situation.
As the day of the protest approaches, Ekosodin residents are preparing to voice their concerns collectively and organized, highlighting the importance of addressing infrastructural challenges in underserved areas for the well-being and prosperity of all citizens.
