In the spirit of the Eid-el-Fitri celebrations, the Chief Imam of the University of Benin, Prof. Buniyamin Adesina Ayinde, has urged Muslim faithful to maintain their good conduct and avoid returning to sinful acts.

Prof. Ayinde made this call during his sermon at the Eid-el-Fitri prayer held at the UNIBEN central mosque. He emphasized the need for Muslims to use the holy month of Ramadan as a means of strengthening their faith, and to continue on the path of righteousness even after the Ramadan fasting period is over.

The Chief Imam noted that the holy month of Ramadan is a time for Muslims to reflect on their lives, seek forgiveness for their sins, and make efforts towards positive changes. He, therefore, advised the Muslim community to continue to uphold the good virtues of the month of Ramadan, such as charity, kindness, and generosity, even after the Eid-el-Fitri celebrations.

Prof. Ayinde, who is also the Deputy Vice Chancellor, UNIBEN Ekehuan Campus, also urged Muslims to shun violence and any form of social vices, stating that Islam promotes peace and unity. He reminded the Muslim community that their actions and behaviors should always be guided by the teachings of the Quran and the Hadith.

In his closing remarks, the Chief Imam congratulated the Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the Ramadan fasting, and urged them to continue to pray for peace and stability in the country.

The Eid-el-Fitri celebrations mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan, which is a period of fasting, prayer, and self-reflection for Muslims worldwide. It is celebrated with prayers, feasting, and acts of charity and goodwill.
